My Review of I.O.U. Sex

My Review of I.O.U. Sex by Sandra Nachlinger and Sandra Allen.  A Fabulous Read!!

I began this book, I.O.U. Sex, some time ago and had to put it down for many reasons relating to family and work. I could not wait to get back to it. Sandra Nachlinger and Sandra Allen did an incredible job of building the plot and giving us a terrific ending. I don’t like it when the author finishes their story abruptly, and then expects you to buy book number two to get the answer you shelled out your hard earned money for in the first place. This story had a marvelous concept. I mean who doesn’t wonder how our lives would have been changed had we taken a different course? If these women had given in to these High School boyfriends, would their lives have been easier? Obviously, they all had some trauma in their lives as a result of the choices they did make. Could they have avoided some, or all, of that? Could they have married right out of High School and had the perfect family, the perfect life, happily ever after? We don’t know the answer to these questions but these two authors gave us a real time picture of what could happen when one gets older, wiser, sometimes better looking, and more willing to take a risk. This is the story of how June, Peggy, and Kiki recovered from those choices and eventually resolved them.  And this gives us all hope. Thanks for a great job ladies and I look forward to your next book.  Mary Firmin, author, Deadly Pleasures

This Week with Mary

So much has happened since my last post I don't know where to begin.  First, I completed the blog tour where 10 wonderful bloggers reviewed Deadly Pleasures and posted their comments on their blog and on Amazon.com on the Deadly Pleasures Page. The reviews were intuitive and complimentary, and I thank them all. Their sites are posted below if your would like to visit them. Then, an advertisement by Rising Star, iUniverse was in the New York Times Book Review, and there was Deadly Pleasures with a copy of the cover as part of this full page ad called, Classics for Your Collection. What a thrill to see the book in the NYT. And, if that is not enough,  I received a bunch of copies of Publisher's Weekly and found a blurb of my book in their new section for Indie Authors. I know that my dear Bill is looking down from heaven and saying, "Go Mary." He always had such faith in me, and I miss him. At the moment, there is something big in the wind. I don't know if it will occur but I am keeping a good thought.  I will let you know what it is next time. So, bye for now, or as they say in England. TTFN (Ta Ta For Now).  Mary Firmin

Deadly Pleasures Blog Tour

About the book:

Megan Riley has bigger things to worry about than the fact that her neighbor has just been found dead.

Her engagement has just ended, and she is once again on a quest to find Mr. Right-or at least Mr. Right Now. Tired of emotional ties and ready for a new adventure, Megan and her three best friends make a fateful decision. They hire hunky stripper Michael Harrington as their timeshare boytoy-unaware he is the prime suspect in a series of gruesome murders. Suddenly, they find themselves involved in a complicated murder investigation led by a handsome detective who is focused only on finding the twisted serial killer before he strikes again. But who will be the next to die? Megan, the hardworking real estate agent; newly divorced Kathleen; Alex, married to a wealthy businessman; or Rachel, the spurned wife of a hot Hollywood screenwriter?

Following her own investigation, Megan takes a wild ride through L.A.’s bondage parlors, hidden sex clubs, and the extravagant lifestyles of the rich and famous; soon she discovers that her quest for adventure has abruptly transformed into a dangerous game of life and death.

About the Author:
Mary Firmin was born in the North of England, emigrated to Canada, then traveled to Florida where she owned and operated an Arthur Murray Dance Studio. She moved on to Santa Monica, California where she worked in Real Estate Sales and eventually became Vice President of a large firm on the West Side. She began her writing career by attending many classes at local colleges, including UCLA, and then moved on to private writer’s groups. As active members of a Southern California Yacht Club, Mary and her husband traveled up and down the California Coastline for years, and spent many days on Catalina Island. Upon moving to the Desert, Mary wrote a society column for a Palm Springs newspaper. It is from these experiences she forged her characters and the story of Deadly Pleasures. This book is a fun, casual read with a little romance, some deviant sex, and a sick serial killer. It is sure to keep your attention to the very end. Mary’s loving husband, Bill, passed away this year. She has three children, one gorgeous grandchild and lives in Rancho Mirage, California. Mary is now working on her second book in this series, Deadly Secrets.

Reviews of Deadly Pleasures:

“Firmin writes more like a seasoned storyteller than a debut novelist,…Deadly Pleasures is recommended for readers who like to be both titillated and entertained. Ones certainly hopes that the author, an iUniverse Rising Star, has more naughty novels up her sleeves.” Jill Allen, Clarion Reviews. (Five star review)

“Firmin’s first novel is a first-rate murder mystery…swiftly paced tale of lust, seduction, duplicity and horror, Firmin’s debut easily keeps the pages turning.” Kirkus Reviews

“Sex and the City meets James Patterson in this tale of friendship that’s peppered with enough thriller action to make Deadly Pleasures a solid guilty pleasure.” Blueink Reviews

“Deadly Pleasures doesn’t rely on gimmicks. Firmin writes with authority. Fully developed characters keep the story moving.” -Reviewed by Doris Parmett, National Best-selling author of Lies, Risk, and 11 other novels.

“There is a nice balance between romance and mystery making this a great read. I always enjoy a good mystery and I am looking forward to more of Firmin’s books as this is one of the best mysteries I have read!” -Kristie from Readers Favorite

This week with Mary

First of all I would like to thank all of you wonderful blogging ladies for participating in my blog tour. I will try not to let you down. Also, to my dear Stormi, who works so hard to keep me ‘out there’ in the Social Network, I would like to offer my deepest appreciation. And to all the people who are experiencing this event with me for the first time. Welcome!
This whole Social Networking, and blogging, are all new to me. But I love it! I have met so many incredible and talented people, both writers and readers. It is amazing the extraordinary lengths the people on my web sites will go to help each other. When my husband published my book for me with iUniverse he did not know what an important part of my life it would become … since he passed away six months later. This book and all the marvelous people I have come in contact with have saved my sanity. I don’t know what I would do if this were not in my life right now. Of course, my son Kevin, my daughter Kathleen, and my darling grandson, Charlie, bring me much joy.
With the help of all you people, my wonderful friends, and all my family the book is doing rather well, and I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
